Saguaro

February, 2026

We had a little time between trips so I decided to pop over to Tucson for a few days to check out the Saguaro National Park.

The main reason for the trip was to hike in the park, so every morning before the heat I headed out.

The hiking was pretty standard desert stuff, except for the huge numbers of awesome saguaro cacti that were everywhere.
It was made extra special by the many species of wildflowers that were out. A

As the morning would progress more and more people would hit the trails. I appreciated how popular hiking is around this area.
I was delighted and very lucky to see this Great Horned Owl peacefully snoozing in a tree.

After my trail runs I found myself with time on my hands. I was very happy to learn that there is an INCREDIBLE air museum in town, so I headed right over there. It is massive, with over 400 planes in an enormous area.

They had several former Air Force One aircraft. Including this one which Kennedy used.
To add to my luck, they were training for heritage airshows. So I bunch of us got impromptu shows from the parking lot, including these two.

I alson spent some time walking around and exploring Tucson downtown. Lots of good Mexican food. And loads of really superb murals all over the place. I love it when a town/city does that.
