From Hood we headed up to Mt Rainier National Park.
We stayed in a really lovely little treehouse near the park entrace. It was very comfortable, but did creak and pop quite a lot whenever the wind blew.Writing up the Mt Hood post during some down time.I was very excited to get to a new national park. Rainier is interesting because once you enter the park it is still a good 30-40 minute drive to the main attractions. It is possible to stay in the park, but you must plan far further in advance than we do.We headed directly up to Reflection Lakes to take in the sunset. We were not disappointed!!It really did get very chilly up in Rainier. We were very pleased to have our Rumpl blankets.Next morning first thing I was back up on the mountain to do the Skyline Loop. A very popular trail, but with very good reason! There were enormous numbers of really pretty wildflowers absolutely everywhere. And also quite a lot of marmots.I added on a loop past the lakes to make my run a little longer. And then the next day both of us headed back to the same area. Jules was LOVING the wildflowers and eventually filled her phone storage up with photos of them!We saw this littel marmot battle with an incredible backdrop. We’ve been enjoying our luck seeing wildlife on this trip. This little fella right near our accomodation. On our way out of the area we stopped off to hike Snow Lake. A very, very beautiful lake but we were forced into our sun shirts because of biting flies!I still dove in. The cold knocked my breath away.
