We started to run out of time, so accelerated our trip home.
Jules needed some more time at home so she popped ontoa flight from Jackson, which has to be one of the most beautiful airports in the world. After seeing her off I carried on driving and covered a lot of ground. Starting in Wyoming I traversed Idaho, Utah, and then Nevada.I loved the wide open spaces, especially as I got to Nevada. I would go for long periods without seeing another car.I made it to the Great Basin National Park with some sunlight left and drove up to a hike really near the top. The views were incredible. The highlight of the hike was a little grove of Bristlecone Pines. Some of the oldest living things on Earth. This one is still alive (small parts keep living) 2,500 years old!The next day I continued my drive, including passing this terrifying place! For my last night of the trip I stayed in Mammoth Lakes. I popped up for a final hike which was fun. But honestly, after being spoiled for so long I wasn't as blown away as I had expected.First thing in the morning I was up to finish the drive. I had realized that there was timed entry for Yosemite, so I needed to enter the park before 6am!So I watched the sun rise at Tenaya Lake in a part of the park I've actually never seen before. And then hit the road to be back home well before lunch time!
