Liverpool

May, 2025

I’ve been a fan of Liverpool since grade 1 when my mate Michael Azar told me that I was one. And he did me a huge favor, because it’s an incredible club to follow – full of real history and passion.

It’s been a dream of mine to visit Anfield and watch a premier league match. The opportunity finally presented itself. And so, with a few fellow fans off I went to Liverpool.

Liverpool is a cool city!

Liverpool itself is a really cool city! We loved the red brick architecture, the super friendly people, and the vibes.

This bar was an excellent stop for some drinks.

The Beatles

The other thing that the Liverpool is truly known for is The Beatles. We did a bit of a city tour seeing where they grew up and got started. And we also went to watch a cover band in one of their old venues.

The Cavern Club where they played over 200 shows.
Very fun cover band playing at the Cavern Club.
Liverpool loves a good mural!

Anfield and the match

The day before the game we did a stadium tour which was fantastic. It included a Q&A with a past player which was absolutley fascinating.

Walking out of the players tunnely to ward the pitch and touching the famous sign.
It was really meaningful to be at a place that I've heard and thought about so often over the years.
There are lots of really high quality murals in the neighborhood. We loved seeing them.
What a motto.

Game Day

We got started early to soak up the vibes around Anfield.

We started off hanging out in a beer garden alongside the stadium. There were several of these and they started filling up fast.
And then a pub right alongside the stadium. Vibes increased here, singing began.
We spent some time hanging around here and watching the players driving themselves in. Good vibes here too!
And then into the stadium. We were in the main stand, but loved seeing the legendary Kop stand.
The most passionate fans, the ones that make Anfield famous are in the Kop and they did not disappoint!
Liverpool had already won the league so Arsenal were tradition bound to give team a guard of honor on their way in.
Soaking it all up. I couldn't quite believe that I was finally there.
It was an exciting game to watch. Arsenal were superb and I was delighted to have Liverpool up 2-0 at the half. But some mistakes led to a 2-2 score going into the last ten minutes. Arsenal got a red card and it was all Liverpool pressure. A last minute goal was disallowed and I was left rather hoarse!
Some gameplay vibes.
