We had a short break at home to refresh and to celebrate Julie’s bday with some friends. Within 10 days we were back on the road, this time to meet friends in Italy.
First stop was Lake Maggiore, the less well known neighbor of Como, near Milan. We stayed in a nice quiet coastal town which was very pretty. On one of our days there we rented a boat and used it to putter around all over the lake. There are several beautiful islands and we enjoyed checking them out. From there it was on to Sardinia, where we met up with the rest of the crew for a week of sailing off the North of the island. We were a bit unfortunate with the wind and had some highly entertaining crossings. But overall things were stunning. This is a little exclusive town called Porto Rafael which we all loved. The tiny yacht club was absolutely charming and we had an excellent dinner there.A lovely little cove on one of our morning walks (we did several). This is Bonifacio, a truly stunning little town on Corsica. We spent the evening here and had a lovely sunset and then dinner up in the old town at the top of the cliffs. It was quite remarkable to see how they’ve built right up the edge of the cliffs, even when the cliffs themselves overhang things.Next morning we were off for another walk, this time along the cliffs.
At the end of the week Jules and I decided to stay on Sardinia for a few more days and we rented an absolutely gorgeous little Airbnb on the water.
This guy comes in to the beach every day.The view from our place was stunning. We spent most of our time here relaxing, reading, and swimming.Cute, much more busy beach walking distance from our place. We took this while having an excellent lunch. I felt like this scene could easily have been in the 80s.One evening this little guy came out and spent ages poking around in the rocks while we watched. And then it was off. We had a fantastic time in Italy, most importantly because of the quality time with our friends.
