How I manage tasks

Over the years I have formed a strong opinion about how to manage tasks and todos.

My goal is deload my brain. I don’t want to keep tasks in memory, but I definitely don’t want to worry about forgetting them. So I:

  1. Document them. Otherwise you will forget. Make this really easy.
  2. Snooze them. Clear up mental space by snoozing things until later.

Snoozing is vital. It allows me to focus only on what needs doing today, without worrying about forgetting something.

At work I like doing this with pen and paper (I'm taking notes anyway). In my personal life I didn't have a great system and ended up just emailing myself.

But it’s a pain emailing yourself.

So I built an app

  1. Only see tasks that are relevant today
  2. Easy task capture
  3. Swipe to snooze tasks until later
  4. Swipe to mark done
  5. Recurring tasks
  6. Web, Android, and iOS clients
  7. Optional notifications when tasks become current again
